Fontainebleau 2018 – Day 1

Fontainebleau 2018 – Day 1

Well, it’s been a long time since I’d found the brain power to write a post here. I’d started out with good intentions with my end of year/start of year, but just never found myself writing anything. I guess it happens! Liz gave me a nudge to write something while I’m here on holiday and I though, well, why not. Even if it’s just a brain dump of each day. Maybe it will get me back into the habit. So,…

Fontainebleau 2017

Fontainebleau 2017

Day 1 – Rocher Fin After a bit of a slow morning, but with the great traditional breakfast of fresh coffee, sugary grapefruit and fried eggs on marmity toast we set off to Rocher Fin. It’s down as one of the longer walk ins in the Trois Pignons but it really didn’t seem that long. It’s was mostly a long trek along the Chemin De La Mée and then a little bit of faff at the end where we found…

Circuit des 25 Bosses: Simultaneously the best and worst long training run of my life.

Circuit des 25 Bosses: Simultaneously the best and worst long training run of my life.

I needed to do a 32k long run while out on holiday in France. We’re right next to a lovely wood, but also not far away from the Trois Pignon where loads of awesome climbing areas are. While pondering what route to plot out, Andy suggested I run the “Circuit des 25 Bosses”. Checking it out, it appears to be a circuit around 25 “mounds” in the Trois Pignon, taking in a lot of the climbing areas. What a great…

Fontainebleau Trip 2016

Fontainebleau Trip 2016

Not quite as massively delayed as my post about the 2015 Font trip but still pretty late, a quick write up our next one! After the fun we had in 2015, we pretty quickly booked in again for the next year. After failing to get a hold of the Maison Bleau owner, we looked elsewhere and got booked into what appeared to be a Ski Chalet in Arbonne-La-Foret which was pretty much perfectly placed for quite a bit of bouldering!…

Another week in Fontainebleau

Another week in Fontainebleau

Today is the last day of another week in Fontainebleau. I’ve come later than usual this year as we are usually here either April/May, or September, but this time we’ve come a little later. I was wondering if this was a bit of a gamble weather-wise, but perhaps you run the rain lottery no matter what time of you come! Still, we’ve been mostly lucky. The weather as been crisp and dry from the Saturday evening we arrived, right through…

Onde de Choc

Onde de Choc

A quick video throw together some attempts on Onde de Choc at Apremont in Fontainebleau. Lorraine and I were pretty much not climbing this day, instead happy to sit in the sun and take lots of video and photos of Andy, Jim and Dan getting their beast on.

A critical error has occurred: Operation Fail.

A critical error has occurred: Operation Fail.

I’ve been meaning to post in here for ages.  I’ve been doing quite a bit of climbing recently, bouldering twice a week and getting back on the leading band wagon.  Frankly, it’s been great.   Even better, I’ve booked another climbing holiday:  10 days out bouldering again in Fontainebleau taking advantage of the long Easter weekend and that random wedding thing. It’s getting close to the end of the financial year and I had 8 days of holiday to take, so…

Fontainebleau!

Fontainebleau!

I went to Font at the end of September. I was planning a big post about it, but I’ve failed. Hmm. I should sort it. Anyway! Here is a pic: This is Blue 38 at La Canche aux Merciers.   Pic by Lorraine.
