Amsterdam Marathon PB: 3:23:50

Amsterdam Marathon PB: 3:23:50

I guess you can made an educated guess about what you are capable of doing, and then letting your body show you how right you were Church of Saint Nicholas A post shared by Kelly D (@delanthear) on Oct 13, 2017 at 9:44am PDT My third marathon, after York (thrown in the deep end) and Venice (let’s actually do some planning for this) was always going to be interesting. Venice had given me a bit of a taste of what…

Sheffield 10k 2017: 40:33 New PB!

Sheffield 10k 2017: 40:33 New PB!

I honestly cant believe this time. You know how when people seem to play down how well they are expecting to run? “I’m tired, it wont be as fast as I want”, “I pulled something the other day” or “My training has been really poor”? This definitely WASN’T one of those times! I was telling people pretty much all weekend that being as this run was right at the end of my marathon training that I didn’t expect to get…

Grenochase 2017

Grenochase 2017

The Grenochase is sort of the local run for Andy, being just up the hill from his. Usually it clashes with the Tramlines festival, so it gets ignored but this year there was no clash, so he signed up. And then Martin followed, and then under some pressure Liz and I joined up. Friday soon rolled around, and we all found ourselves scrabbling to leave work early to get to Andy’s so we could get changed and begin the walk…

Last Minute Races: The Oxspring Hunshelf Amble

Last Minute Races: The Oxspring Hunshelf Amble

There I was, working on my massage write ups when up popped a message from Lindsey.  “Are you running the Oxspring Hunshelf Amble tomorrow?”.  You can imagine how the rest of that conversation went! I couldn’t get to the start without help, so Lindsey offered to pick me up from Lidl carpark in Stocksbridge.  That meant a quick tram and bus from home at about 8:30, meeting for the pick up at almost 9:30. It was a short drive from…

Round Sheffield Run 2017

Round Sheffield Run 2017

Surprising how fast it comes around really. Suddenly it was Round Sheffield Run 2017 on Sunday. Arrgh! Actually, I felt pretty comfortable. Despite still feeling lingeringly dehydrated and a bit sore from the climbing and running over the weekend I was just simply looking forward to it. I usually have nerves and butterflies in the run up to a race, but not this time. I think it’s because I was really looking forward to it, and hadn’t really piled any…

Dark Peak Trail Run 2017

Dark Peak Trail Run 2017

This week I was supposed to be tapering. The training plan I’ve been following for most of this year was for the Round Sheffield Run; a staged 20k run over 24k on the 25th of June. It’s a great race, and I wanted to do well on it, so was trying to keep to a plan to help. This week was my taper week, but I couldn’t resist. Martin of Run, Climb and More had been seriously bitten by the…

White Peak 26k Trail Race 2017

White Peak 26k Trail Race 2017

After we completed the Langsett Trail 10k back in February, Martin and I were taken with some sudden enthusiasm to sign up for another race. A group gets their briefing for the White Peak Trail Race 2017 at the start of the Tissington Trail #running #trailrunning #whitepeak #whitepeaktrail A post shared by Kelly D (@delanthear) on May 22, 2017 at 2:49pm PDT We found this one while browsing SIEntires and promptly signed up, all enthusiastic. Liz was a little less…

April 2017 Round Up

April 2017 Round Up

This is a little late for my April round up, but I’ve been really busy with other things. April has mostly been the Sheffield Half Marathon and then a recover fortnight off! Running April kicked off with the Sheffield Half Marathon which you can read all about on my blog post. My plan for April was to take a 2 week break after the race to try and give my sore ankles a bit of rest before ramping the training…

Welcome to the Pain Cave: Sheffield Half Marathon 2017

Welcome to the Pain Cave: Sheffield Half Marathon 2017

New Half Marathon PB of 1:35:24! I’m pretty damn happy with this. I’ve just knocked 3mins 34secs off my previous Half Marathon PB at The Great North Run, a run which is substantially easier than this one. The Sheffield Half is a big loop out of the city, climbing up a big hill just into the edge of the peaks and then back again down to Sheffield. That hill meant I really had no idea how to pace it. I…

Langsett Trail 10k 2017

Langsett Trail 10k 2017

Oooh, another trail run! While trying to stick to my training plan for the Sheffield Half coming up in April, I’m constantly being tempted into races. I’m not quite sure who put me on to The Langsett Trail runs (might have been Lindsey) but being as this one was just up the road, I really couldn’t resist. There was an option of a 10k, or 13 mile route and I opted for the 10k.  I’m not really sure why I…
