Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

I’ve been really bad at doing any updates here, with the exception of the splurge while I was out at Fontainebleau. I’m not really sure why the blogging died off, as I was enjoying, it, but I suspect it’s just a factor of being so much more busy recently. In the last year, I’ve gone 3 days a week in my desk job, and then filling in the rest of the time doing Sports Massage (under Rock Run Relax) and…

August and July Round Up

August and July Round Up

Christ, what happened to July and August?   They’ve just flown by like crazy in a haze of work, course, climbing and running related busyness, and still I’m rushing!  Ok, well here is a quick round up of the last two months:

April 2017 Round Up

April 2017 Round Up

This is a little late for my April round up, but I’ve been really busy with other things. April has mostly been the Sheffield Half Marathon and then a recover fortnight off! Running April kicked off with the Sheffield Half Marathon which you can read all about on my blog post. My plan for April was to take a 2 week break after the race to try and give my sore ankles a bit of rest before ramping the training…

March 2017 Round Up

March 2017 Round Up

March done with and still going, although my feet are pretty sore! I’ve still not managed to shake the niggling ankle injury I’ve had for a long time now, but I’ve promised myself to take a rest (ish) after the Sheffield Half Marathon in a couple of days. Running 240km run this month, which is the most I’ve done since 2014, also March coincidentally.  That was the month of my first Embrace Sports trainingholiday which will have pushed up my…

February 2017 Round Up

February 2017 Round Up

2017 definitely has started rolling now, with the weeks picking up speed as they go past.    It’s been a pretty good month from a training point of view, right up to the last week. Running Plenty of running happening this month in line with my training plan, right up to the last week.  After a final ‘easy’ 15k run on the 24th, which for the last few k felt very hard indeed (despite being being quite low on the HR…

January 2017 Round Up

January 2017 Round Up

31st of January 2017, what have I been up to? Running! Firstly, running! Lots of running! I joined the “You Vs the Year 2017” challenge which challenges you to run 1017km over the year and the #run1000miles 2017 Trail Mag challenge. I did the YVTY challenge last year and managed it, so now of the same! Last year it was tracked in Endomondo, but it appears to have moved to MapMyRun this time (which is annoying because I don’t really…

Signed up for a year…

Signed up for a year…

My 12 sessions for the price of 10 at The Climbing Works ended last week so I had the dilemma of what to do about paying for it! I’ve been trying to save money recently, and it really made sense to consider my options. It’s £7.50 a session, 75 for 12 sessions (£6.25 each) or a whopping great £360 for the year. Urk. So, £360 for the year means 48 sessions… which is less than one session a week for…

2015 so far…

2015 so far…

So, what’s been going on with my climbing and running in 2015? Back Problems I’ve had a back problem bothering me for much of this year so far. After period of being hunched over a laptop for a good while working on photos back in August/September last year, my back had been bothering me, and it all kind of came to a head in Feburary this year. After a consultation with an osteopath, I was advised to lay off the…

Competing at the CWIF

Competing at the CWIF

After actually getting back into the bouldering again, I got roped into joining a team for the 2015 CWIF! (Climbing Works International Festival!) The CWIF is an annual bouldering tournament which we usually go and watch the finals for, but being as it’s our local bouldering wall… why not. EEP! As the Team was formed of Ed, Kelly, Liz and myself, we decided to call ourselves “2 * (Kelly + 1)”. Yeah, bit geeky… :/ Anyway, how did it go?…

Year Round Up and Next Year

Year Round Up and Next Year

So, how has 2014 been for my climbing? Mostly pretty lousy to be honest, but if you read my last post, I’ve explained all that! However, on the bright side, I’ve got myself in decent running shape, and I’m ending the year carefully getting back on the Bouldering wagon. So, on the running. For the past few months I’ve attempting to be improving my 5k time, (I.e. I really want a sub 20 min 5k!) and I’ve been following an…
