Welcome to the 20s

Welcome to the 20s

What an odd year for running and climbing. Reflecting back on it, I feel like it’s been a bit of a crap year for my running. Running Reflections Except, it really hasn’t: One of my targets at the start of the year post was like the past 2 years, to run the year again in km. Yep, did it: 2023km in 2019. Then, in mid June, I destroyed my 5k time while testing the new Loxley Lash 5k course with…

Overdue update! Some Curbar bouldering

Overdue update! Some Curbar bouldering

I’ve got a bit slack with updating here recently. I’m not sure I’ll get back in track soon but let’s try and get something up about the tiny bit of outdoor bouldering we’ve managed this year. We’ve made it out twice so far this year, which is frankly pathetic! We’ve just been too busy, or the weather has been bad. Must try and remedy this! Both times we made it out though we decided to go to Curbar. Although Curbar…

EMBRACE! Targeted Run Day

EMBRACE! Targeted Run Day

The last day of running in what has been a fairly full on little holiday. Starting from Saturday when we arrived I’ve done around 75k and it’s not finished yet! Today is the Lagos Town targeted run. It’s a 5mile/8k figure of 8 loop, with an aid station in the middle of it. This means you can do any number of full or partial laps and be supported for whatever you’re aiming for. The coaches work with you to take…

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

I’ve been really bad at doing any updates here, with the exception of the splurge while I was out at Fontainebleau. I’m not really sure why the blogging died off, as I was enjoying, it, but I suspect it’s just a factor of being so much more busy recently. In the last year, I’ve gone 3 days a week in my desk job, and then filling in the rest of the time doing Sports Massage (under Rock Run Relax) and…

Fontainebleau 2018 – Day 1

Fontainebleau 2018 – Day 1

Well, it’s been a long time since I’d found the brain power to write a post here. I’d started out with good intentions with my end of year/start of year, but just never found myself writing anything. I guess it happens! Liz gave me a nudge to write something while I’m here on holiday and I though, well, why not. Even if it’s just a brain dump of each day. Maybe it will get me back into the habit. So,…

Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018

Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018

Wow, what a year 2017 has been. I’ve missed a few round up posts since my Marathon in October mostly down to being extremely busy, but also because the running has got a bit erratic based on that busyness and a bit of lack of focus, but Facebook “memory” surfaced the other day which really highlighted how much of a tremendous year this has been for my running. Perhaps not for the climbing, but definitely on the running. But first,…

End of 2016, looking forward to 2017..

So, the end of the year is here. What have I achieved? Good and Bad Lots of training for improving my 5k time to beat 20min 5k, which then I didn’t actually really try in the end Another fabulous Embrace Sports running holiday A brand new 10k PB thanks to the 5k training Trying out the Round Sheffield Run for the first time which turned out to be bloody brilliant fun Picking up some sort of lingering ankle injury from…

2015 so far…

2015 so far…

So, what’s been going on with my climbing and running in 2015? Back Problems I’ve had a back problem bothering me for much of this year so far. After period of being hunched over a laptop for a good while working on photos back in August/September last year, my back had been bothering me, and it all kind of came to a head in Feburary this year. After a consultation with an osteopath, I was advised to lay off the…

Year Round Up and Next Year

Year Round Up and Next Year

So, how has 2014 been for my climbing? Mostly pretty lousy to be honest, but if you read my last post, I’ve explained all that! However, on the bright side, I’ve got myself in decent running shape, and I’m ending the year carefully getting back on the Bouldering wagon. So, on the running. For the past few months I’ve attempting to be improving my 5k time, (I.e. I really want a sub 20 min 5k!) and I’ve been following an…
