I'm not quite the leader…
Last few sessions have been surrounding working on leading. There were only 2 of us tonight so we had a good long session just working slowly up the grades to work out what we can do. Managed a couple of 5s, a 6a and a 6a+, all of which were within our abilities. After that we went on the really big wall and wore ourselves out.
I'm tired now.

Well, on the advice of the Dr, I +did+ go climbing yesterday.
It was hurting most of the day tbh, probably from the Dr manipulating it a lot, but I thought stuff it, I want to climb.
Turns out that climb made it feel better! I'm aching generally today though as it was a hard one. So, what did I do:
Did the Orange 6c. Worked on the really hard 6b+/c in the corner that has been troubling Jim and I for a couple of weeks. I think I've nearly cracked it. We then did the 'uncomfortable' purple climb, which is a 6b I think and isn't as hard as you think it is.
After that Jim and I decided to try out the newish 6c on the slab, which is corner climb. I _nearly_ managed it, just welshing out of one move on it as it was a big step up on a tiny feature with poor hand holds. More guts next time!
After that we decided to take on my latest Nemesis, the really tough, tiny hold, undercutty, leg stretchy, high steppy, arm crossing red with green tags 6b+. Jim went on it first and really struggled. I went on it and.. did it! FINALLY! I really like that climb, but it is HARD! I ended up laying out on the floor for a few minutes afterwards.
After that was a just plain horrible purple climb in the corner. Not should how tough it is, bit I'm going to put it as a 6a+/6b. It just didn't suite my style at all!

Went to the Doctors this morning to check out this pesky shoulder of mine.
Bad News:
He reckons I've got a Labral Tear; a tear in the little cup of cartilage that surrounds your shoulder joint. I've probably done it by falling on my arm at some point while bouldering, rather than as a direct result of climbing. He's referring me to a 'shoulder Dr' to have a look at it. I might need an ultrasound or MRI scan to confirm it. I'm not convinced there is much they can do to help it by reading around, but at least I know what it is!
Good News:
He's told me to keep climbing. Based on the fact that I've probably not done it in normal climbing and that climbing isn't aggravating it, he's told me to keep at it. Fairy nuff!
I'll just keep away from the Climbing Works and bouldering for a bit to avoid falling on it again!

I've got a bit slack with this really.
So, I've been climbing quite a bit, usually managing at least twice a week. I've also enlisted a bunch of friends to come with me.
My level is about the same, able to do most 6b+s and one of the 6cs at my usual place. There is still 2 6b+s that are evading me but I haven't had much chance to take them on recently!
I went to a new climbing centre this weekend, Creation down in Birmingham. I was very impressed, lots of varied climbs and shapes etc. I think they grade a bit harder than my normal place though. Some of the 6bs stopped me in my tracks. On one of those I encountered my first 'dyno' which was pretty intense. Once I'd realised that +was+ the move I had to do (well, a guy yelled it up to me…) I went for it and managed it first go! Blimey.
So, anyway, really why I'm posting:
Tomorrow I'm phoning the doctor and getting an appt to get my shoulder checked out. It's been bothering me since the middle of last year and doesn't seem to be sorting itself. It hurts right now! I'm concerned I'll do myself more damage so after that, no more climbing for a bit. I'll see about a month off or something, based on what the Dr orders.
i am sad.
